Transient adaptivity applied to two-phase incompressible flows

چکیده
An anisotropic adaptation process is applied to a three-dimensional incompressible two-phase flow solver. The solver uses a level set/finite element method on unstructured tetrahedral meshes. We show how the level set function can be used to build an anisotropic mesh with good properties. Some computations with a strong transient character and large densities ratios (1/1000) are presented. We show that the efficiency of the computations can be deeply enhanced by mesh adaptations. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Three-dimensional characteristic approach for incompressible thermo-flows and influence of artificial compressibility parameter
In this paper the characteristics of unsteady three-dimensional incompressible flows with heat transfer are obtained along with artificial compressibility of Chorin. At first, compatibility equations and pseudo characteristics for three-dimensional flows are derived from five governing equations (continuity equation, Momentum equations in three directions, and energy equation) and then results ...

A preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers
A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...
متن کاملDecoupled, Energy Stable Schemes for Phase-Field Models of Two-Phase Incompressible Flows
We construct in this paper two classes, based on stabilization and convex splitting, of decoupled, unconditionally energy stable schemes for Cahn-Hilliard phase-field models of two-phase incompressible flows. At each time step, these schemes require solving only a sequence of elliptic equations, including a pressure Poisson equation. Furthermore, all these elliptic equations are linear for the ...

Numerical approximations of Cahn-Hilliard phase-field model for the two-phase incompressible flows are considered in this paper. Several efficient and energy stable time discretization schemes for the coupled nonlinear Cahn-Hilliard phase-field system for both the matched density case and the variable density case are constructed, and are shown to satisfy discrete energy laws which are analogou...
